Thanks! He was such a cute little guy! Now he is almost 2 years old, and 15.1 at the withers and 15.2 1/2 at the rear. He is starting another growth spurt too!!

Foals are so fun!! Exciting times!! What kind of foal? When was the mare bred?? When is she due??? Any signs of foaling yet? Is this your first foal??

Tanner is coming two on June 2 this year. So far, he ties, bathes, loads and hauls, clips with electric clippers, ground ties, sets his feet, lunges on and off a line. Tanner also knows all his vocal cues and moves according to visual pressure given to him. If you look at his hip, he moves forward, if you look at his shoulder it stops him, and pressure on his nose turns him. He leads beautifully, and backs up like a pro. He turns on his forehand and haunches on the ground. Moves his hips over both ways. We are working on sidepassing from the ground now. He had a saddle on for the first time on Monday, and he could have cared less. He works with a simple, copper mouth loose ring snaffle, on the ground in hand, ground driving, and on a lunge line. Tanner is 15.1 hands(at the withers, and 15.2 1/2 at the butt) and 950 lbs now. We are approaching yet another growth spurt as well this month! He has been x rayed(to check the growth plates in his knees) by our vet as well. He should mature at or above 16 hh according to the vet, and he has way too much space to start him heavy this year(about 3 inches) and so rather than blow his knees or ruin his young legs, we are taking it slow and steady. His dam is 16.2 and 1100 lbs, his sire is 15.3 and 1250 lbs. I can start his major undersaddle work in about a year and a half, maby a year, if his growth slows down. He has grown 7 inches at the wither and 8 1/2 inches at the butt since last july!! This year, we are starting very lightly undersaddle, with walk, whoa, and a little trot work. Hopefully, he will be a great reining horse someday, but for now, mostly trail. He is very cowy as well! But, alas, he will be too big to cut!
